Lionel Messi has been playing for Barcelona since since he was 12 in 2003 from Barcelona C , and in 2004 for Barcelona B and finally Barcelona. Messi has played for Barcelona till date. Messi was dropped into a free agency pool at the start of July after the end of his contract.
Messi has also agreed to halve his yearly earnings to re-sign for Barca, and Barcelona will formally announce his new contract in the coming weeks.
La Liga president Javier Tebas warned that Messi could not legally be registered without significantly reducing his salary.
Messi became available for a free transfer after the expiration of his last contract, it has been reported that PSG and Manchester City have shown interest in signing him.
Messi would have received many formal offers, including from PSG but he decided to be in the same club. Messi’s last contract paid him $674 million in the four-year term ($168.5 million per year), new deal is expected to pay him close to $85 million per year.
