The Senior Selection Committee has named KL Rahul as Captain of the Indian Team for the ODI series as Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI series owing to an injury.
The Selection Committee also named a 18-member squad for the series. The team is as follows:
KL Rahul (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar, Jaspreet Bumrah (Vice-Captain), Bhuvneshwar Kumar,Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj
Despite considering Virat Kohli’s presence in the ODI squad, the selection committee didn’t consider his name for the captaincy of the team in absence of Rohit Sharma. The Selection Committee didn’t even consider Virat Kohli’s name for the Vice-Captaincy of the team, which this time has been handed to fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah.
