On 6th July, ECB has confirmed that 7 members of the England Men’s Cricket Team have been tested positive for Covid-19.
After PCR tests on Monday in Bristol, The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed that seven members - three players and four management team members- of the England Men’s ODI party have tested positive for COVID-19.
The players and the management staff, who have been tested Covid-19 positive will be in self-isolation from July 4th following the UK Government’s protocol on quarantine.
The ECB has also confirmed that the upcoming ODI and T20 series against the Pakistan Cricket Team will go as per scheduled and a new team will now be formed and will be led by Ben Stokes, who will be returning to the England Team.
Tom Harrison, CEO ECB said:. ‘‘We have been mindful that the emergence of the Delta variant, along with our move away from the stringent enforcement of bio secure environments, could increase the chances of an outbreak. We made a strategic choice to try to adapt protocols, in order to support the overall wellbeing of our players and management staff who have spent much of the last 14 months living in very restricted conditions.
ECB has also said that the full squad details have been made overnight and will be released soon.
